Franka thinks about New Media in FLE

Why I don’t twitter

Lately. I have the feeling that everybody is using twitter except for me. So I was asking myself if I am too intolerant when it comes to new media? Is it important to twitter as a future teacher in the medial world?

Here are my reasons for not using it: I think I am a normal person who does things everybody does too. MAybe sometimes something special happens to me or I come up with a brilliant idea, but in the first case I can just tell my friends or write it on Facebook and in the second one I can put it on my blog! I only see one advantage in twittering and that is that I can follow other people who really have to say something interesting or important. But in Ms Gallus case for example, I can check her blog for her latest twitters and if I want any news I just check major newspapers or news channels that are online. Please let me know if you have a really convincing argument for using twitter (especially if it has to do with being a future teacher)! Maybe this will change my mind ;)

    Hey!
I don´t use twitter either. And I have to admit that I don´t even use StudiVZ or Facebook (but I´m thinking about getting an account there:-)). Am I old fashioned?!
Anyway, I think not all new media related technologies are beneficial for the classroom as a matter of fact. Right now I cannot think of any reason why a teacher should twitter him/herself…

I do not think that it is always about being old-fashıoned but decıdıng for or agaınst usıng an applıcatıon. I do not thınk that studıvz or facebook are really benefıcıal for your Englısh classroom, rather the opposıte :)

I totally agree with you on the whole “twitter- thing”. I think it is just sometimes too much. Especially as a teacher, who gets to see his students more than once a week. I think you cold rather just tell your class what you have on your mind than suggesting to follow you on “twitter”…

    Hello everybody!

I have to admit that I did not even know what twitter was before attending our course at university. I agree with all of you and cannot see a reason why twitter should be used in class. I have also written a post about twitter. Have a look if you are interested in my opinion.

I tried twice but I just didn´t understand how to twitter :) I think facebook is enough and you do not need more varieties…
